Ready to take on all the challenges that unfold
over the coming years, they have been in their current guise since late
last September when Nebecus joined. Bassist Dave spoke of the timing, “We
were worried that we would have to call it a day, Andy was off to Universtiy
and we had no one to replace him.” he said “When they
asked me I was overwhelmed and immediately accepted.” says Neb. Fortunately
for Zyllah, Andy stayed on appearing during term breaks and now the band
has a double dose of bone crunching ear assaults for the fans. Before Nebecus
joined, Zyllah recorded the self-titled EP ‘Zyllah’, which was
praised for "…original and brutal vocals…" and "…seethingly
heavy riffs…" – ‘CCC fanzine’. The EP was received
well by fans and encouraged by this, Zyllah went on a gigging spree for
most of 2001/2002. More recently Zyllah put together a shorter, temporary,
more DIY demo entitled ‘Liv Tyler’. “Basically we had
a few requests from various people for a demo, we didn’t have anything
to show them (as the ‘Zyllah’ cd is now out of production) so
we recorded a band practice at Noah’s house one day and I designed
a cover.” laughs Nebecus. Yet the grinding and sometimes hectic riffs
combined with Paul’s emotional vocals mean this is not a demo to be
overlooked. Zyllah are in for the long haul and they don't expect anything
to knock them off course. "We've experienced a lot of positives"
says Paul "and the only way you'll get anywhere in this world is by
pressing on, just getting on with it regardless of praise or criticism.
We’re young so we can’t wait to see what the future holds for
us, who knows where we’ll be in five years time?” One thing is certain, Zyllah are a band that won’t be ignored (they also have the longest biography in the world! - WebEd) |
